RULES for uninitiated noobs: With 100MB of webspace, I give birth to a weekly Mix Tape to be deposited on your iPods or Zunes or Kingklangs or whatever the industry is currently pushing on you. Sometimes there will be themes that link all the songs together, other times I’ll just throw songs at a wall (not literally) and see what sticks. Ever had one of those really pedestrian moments when you realize you’re being pulled in every direction at once? That’s the theme this week. I know it’s hacky, but I’ve never shied away from brutal honesty. Just read the adventures in dating series I’ve been posting. Speaking of which, thanks for everyone who’s written to me to tell me they enjoy those stories. I’ll try to dig up some more on my various hard drives and writing notebooks. So, yeah, this mix highlights the lack of inner peace we all feel at times. Sure, several of the tracks are literally the titles of various “directions,” but there’s also some less-obvious messages about turmoil, frustration with the self, and general chaos. And yes, I admit it, I really like The Verve album A Storm In Heaven. These songs will be removed if desired by the band or those who represent them. Let me know and I will gladly comply. The goal of this endeavor, as always, is to pique your interest in these artists so you’ll support the artists and buy their albums.
