Pretty much nothing exists (on the internet) in regards to this record. Hell, I don’t even know if it was issued with that generic looking die-cut cover, or if someone along the way swapped the original out for this one. Considering “Johnson Productions” isn’t written anywhere on the “Family Filmstrips” sleeve I’m pretty sure it was either issued without a cover, or lost one along its travels. Hell, come to think of it, I don’t even know if Janarae & Noonday is the title! Is Noonday is the title? Or is Noonday is a person whose presence is influential enough to warrant double billing with Janarae? For the sake of this blog entry, we’ll assume that Noonday is the title and not a person, because that’s what I’ve decided as of about thirty seconds ago. All I know is, the music contained in the grooves constitutes one hell of a “Real People” record. In fitting with the style, the album is rife with cover tunes, from Anita Bryant’s “Paper Roses” to Fleetwood Mac’s “Black Magic Woman,” CCR’s “Proud Mary” and Tony Orlando & Dawn’s “Knock 3 Times.”
So enjoy Janarae…
I’m gonna…I’m gonna go enjoy Thomas Koner’s new one, Tiento de la Luz.
