Gotta love those Varese Sarabande soundtracks. They’re all so damned good, you know?
The movie came out in 1980, it was Carpenter’s first effort after the massive success of Halloween. The soundtrack is a lot of eerie minimalist piano, which actually stands in stark contrast to most of Carpenter’s scores, which utilize a lot more synthesizers with throbbing rhythms. This is an understated work, which I guess is befitting of the look and feel of the film.
