The Early Bird Catches Crabs

Tonight I’ll be in Pennsylvania, in the Poconos, [hopefully] getting paid to break-down and pack-up someone’s small recording studio. Just imagine…me…two-hundred dollars richer? That’s almost half-a-month’s rent! Straight to the bank account you go, new baby money! Unless of course there is no new baby money, and I end up paying for my car’s gas, and sweating out all my energy–with no financial restitution. That would be awful.

I’ve just returned from lunch at high noon with a certain Mr. Galanty, who is in town for the week. It’s the first time I’ve seen him since last summer, when I crashed at the little University of Arizona adobe structure he once called home. Plans for world domination and get-rich-quick schemes were considered, but nothing is set in stone at this point. Mostly, we remarked that growing up in Livingston is really good practice for living in Los Angeles. It’s like microcosm of the city; at least the area around Livingston Bagel is…

Last night, Ken, Z, Jack and I recorded seventy minutes of music. Kristie slept on the couch the whole time. It was thunderously loud and sounded really good. I tried to take the reigns by starting each new piece with guitar parts lifted from various songs I’ve written in the past few years, and–with the exception of one or two five-minute crap jams–each one was intense and fun. Jack hailed the session as “anthemic.” I’ll post some recordings when I get them transferred to digital media. Not only did the music and recording sound good, the addition of a vocal microphone and drum overhead microphone allowed some hilarious one-liners or conversations to find their way onto DAT tape. You’re in for a treat tomorrow or Friday. If you like the music a lot, and want to burn it to CD, might I recommend this as a potential album cover?
