A few weeks ago I posted volume one in this series, which was originally released in 1993. The second volume, which features even more great psychedelic/experimental/ambient compositions was released four years later in 1997. It features some familiar names (Melt-Banana! Contagious Orgasm! Shizuka!) and some unfamiliar. Check out the glorious spacerock of Kadura. The brilliance of experimental/ambient trio Onna-Kodomo. There’s plenty here that will warrant further investigation on your part.
The final installment in this series got a little…mainstream, I think, so this is where I stopped collecting ’em. Volume 3 had Acid Mothers Temple, Grind Orchestra, Keiji Haino, and Ultra Fuckers. I mean…once you’ve got AMT on your comp it’s hardly underground anymore, amiright!? HA!
Sorry this post is brief. I’m about to drive across town to see The Residents and won’t have time for a proper post upon returning home. You know, sleep, work, blahblahblah. I’m working on it guys, I really am. I’m working on never having to work again, so that I can devote HOURS to each individual blog post.
