Last night I had the great privilege of watching Swan Fungus super-friend William Fowler Collins perform at Human Resources in Chinatown here in LA. He was joined on stage by Aaron Turner (Isis, Old Man Gloom, Lotus Eaters, et. al.). The duo gave me the best non-pharmaceutically-aided opiate rush I’ve felt in a while. Tomorrow night William will open for Old Man Gloom at the Echo, so hopefully I can pop in after work and enjoy his set. We chatted only briefly after the gig but he seemed to be in good spirits and I was buzzed off three beers (that’s what happens when you stop drinking I guess?) so I was pretty useless at making conversation. He was nice enough to offer me a copy of his new CD Tenebroso, so I’m opening this week’s mix with the opening track from the album. At some point after his September tour ends maybe he’ll find time to sit down and chat with me about what he’s been up to since his last interview. I still chuckle at that Xasthur speedo with blood packs in the groin joke. WHY AREN’T I RICH YET?
