As of tonight, if you add up all the Sunday Mix Tapes I’ve ever made, you get exactly five years worth of music. I don’t go around boasting about how I was the first music blog to conceive of a weekly mix tape…but I sure go around thinking as much! Seriously, who the hell even had a blog back in 2005 let alone one that was compiling uniquely themed mixes (free!). Hell, even that website that was specifically tailored for people to make mix tapes for their friends to stream didn’t last as long as this blog has. What was that site called again? Ah, who cares. It’s looooong defunct by now. Speaking of which, it’s a miracle I haven’t received more than a handful of lawsuit threats since I started making these mix tapes. Surely I should have received close to fifty by now with the amount of music I share. I guess, as the expression goes, “If a blog exists in the middle of a forrest does anybody read it?” Only replace “a forest” with “the Internet”. And “if” with “when”. And “does” with “do you think”. And “read” with “would waste their time on”…
…Is this thing on?
Hi. So last night I was explicitly told if I went back to this girl’s house after our dinner date I could “put it anywhere,” and instead I elected to go home and read a cookbook and go to bed early. Classic Evan move, that was. On the plus side the eggs I made for dinner tonight were especially tasty. Hey, you win some, you lose some. And sometimes you learn a trick about making better scrambled eggs! Which you’re left to eat alone because you turned down a girl who said she wanted to be your filthy whore for the night. Whoops!
Hey, how about a mix tape? For five years’ sake!
RULES for uninitiated noobs: I give birth to a weekly Mix Tape to be deposited on your iPods or Zunes or Kingklangs or whatever the industry is currently pushing on you. Sometimes there will be themes that link all the songs together, other times I’ll just throw songs at a wall (not literally) and see what sticks. This week features some really good ambient pieces juxtaposed to all kinds of shit! Also a Townes Van Zandt cover, the first Oxbow song I’ve posted in YEARS, and one of the wussiest songs ever written (it’s up to you to figure out which one it is!)! The goal of this endeavor, as always, is to pique your interest in these artists so you’ll support the artists and buy their albums.
