Sunday Mix Tape Number 155

It’s Sunday again; today we huddle together, join hands and receive mass. And by “mass” I mean massive amounts of good music, from yours truly. Is “receive mass” even proper English? I don’t know the answer to that question because I am Das Juden. Also, I’ve been throwing back mimosas and Jim Beam/Coke ever since I got off work at seven o’clock. We squeezed in a game of Apples to Apples before True Blood and Hung tonight. Watching those shows made me pine for the days when Sopranos and Six Feet Under ruled Sunday nights on HBO. I can’t decide whether the old Sunday night HBO lineup was as powerful as Wednesday nights on ABC when LOST is in season. That’s a tough one. In any event, this mix tape was compiled around all those other things; the drinking and the television and the games all conspired to deflect my attention from my work. Blogging is work.

RULES for uninitiated noobs: With roughly 100MB of webspace, I give birth to a weekly Mix Tape to be deposited on your iPods or Zunes or Kingklangs or whatever the industry is currently pushing on you. Sometimes there will be themes that link all the songs together, other times I’ll just throw songs at a wall (not literally) and see what sticks. Tonight’s mix tape doesn’t have a theme, but the majority of the songs included in this compilation were submitted by readers, just like you! For example: Stephen offered me a track by Jakob, Anna offered me a new track from Majeure, someone else from the Temporary Residence Ltd. label submitted a Maserati track, Christopher (from the band Early Lines!) submitted a track from his band Nouns Group, and other people e-mailed me other tunes they thought I should listen to! See, you can be a part of a Sunday Mix Tape too if you just take the time to tell me about something I’m missing. The goal of this endeavor, as always, is to pique your interest in these artists so you’ll support the artists and buy their albums.
