I drank way too much last night. After seeing the opening of Nicci’s play I headed over to co-worker Mark’s birthday party in West Hollywood. I don’t remember if I said “Hi” before the first tequila shot, or if I just walked in and found my way to the beverage table and rounded up a group of people to drink with me. A few Makers and Cokes and a few more tequila shots later…I was wearing high-heeled shoes around and making an ass of myself. I guess what I’m trying to say is, it was a typical night out for me, only I was in a stranger’s house and knew the names of maybe 5% of the people I was embarrassing myself in front of. So…in other words, it was Saturday night.
Work today was laborious in the sense that I was hungover and when I first looked at the clock to see what time it was (in the hopes of learning a few hours had already passed) it had been thirty-seven minutes. To say it felt like a long day would be an understatement. Chips and salsa plus quesadillas from Casita Del Campo made it worth while. Now I’m left to compile a mix tape for you. If I could go back in time and edit all previous 146 Sunday Mix Tapes (I was doing this shit before it was popular — I even took a year or more off after the first 100) I would make them all begin with the U.S. Christmas song “Lazarus”. Fuck, that band needs to come to the West Coast right now. Screw European tours. Descend from your weird, dark mountain lair in North Carolina and hoof it to LA so you can melt some faces, guys!
RULES for uninitiated noobs: With roughly 100MB of webspace, I give birth to a weekly Mix Tape to be deposited on your iPods or Zunes or Kingklangs or whatever the industry is currently pushing on you. Sometimes there will be themes that link all the songs together, other times I’ll just throw songs at a wall (not literally) and see what sticks. No theme this week. The goal of this endeavor, as always, is to pique your interest in these artists so you’ll support the artists and buy their albums.
