You know Ride, right? Well…you should. Ride were a British alternative rock band that band formed in 1988 in Oxford, England. The band were initially part of the “shoegaze” movement. Following the break-up of the band in 1996, members moved on to various other projects. In 2001, the band were briefly reunited for a one-off performance for a television show. Depending on whom you speak with, the band’s best record is either Nowhere or Carnival Of Light. You could do worse than buying either of those albums, as I think they’re both really good (though I prefer Nowhere).
Live Light was recorded live (duh!) in France, in November of 1994. It was released without the band’s permission but was marketed as an official release by a small New York indie label called Mutiny Records. Is it technically a “bootleg?” I guess so…but you can buy ’em and sell ’em on Amazon.com, so in the eyes of some people I guess it’s technically a legitimate release. It appears on almost all of the band’s discographies.
