Surely by now you are aware of Comets On Fire. They’re a psychedelic rock band from northern California. Their lineup features Six Organs Of Admittance creator Ben Chasney on electric guitar, and they one band member (Noel von Harmonson) whose main instrument is an Echoplex. They’ve recorded for Alternative Tentacles and Sub Pop. Bong Voyage was a limited-edition (of 800) recording that has quickly become a collector’s item. Six great jams are included on the disc, all heavy and muddy, like the most relentlessly jammy garage-rock you’ve ever heard. I’m amazed more styluses don’t tumble out of the grooves while this record is spinning. It’s that chaotic. It’ll get you high, man.
