SUNDAY MIX TAPE – NUMBER 89

Good Sunday, my loves. Thanks for making this the most heavily trafficked week ever (I think?). Almost 1,000 people a day? On this piece of shit page? Clearly these visits have nothing to do with my ability to spin a yarn or engage in intelligent culture critique. Whatever the reason, feel free to stop by anytime. You’re all welcome. Except for the gays.

I hope your weekends were fun. I slept all Friday night, but went to a raging house party last night. Silly times. Drunk as hell. I was fierce on the dance floor. Stop laughing. It hurts. Really.

Now for the real reason you’re here.

RULES for uninitiated noobs: With 100MB of webspace, I give birth to a weekly Mix Tape to be deposited on your iPods or Zunes or Kingklangs or whatever the industry is currently pushing on you. Sometimes there will be themes that link all the songs together, other times I’ll just throw songs at a wall (not literally) and see what sticks. This week’s compilation is rather heavy on the slow, sprawling tunes. There’s some post-rock goodness from Giant, DMST, Last Days and Theta Naught. There’s some opium-slow gems from Low, OP8 (how fitting!) and Woven Hand. There’s some mind-altering goodness from Ilyas Ahmed, Expo 70 and Wovoka. Then there’s Gary Higgins and Mojave 3. New music from Citay, and a beautiful tune from the impossible to find Les Joyaux De La Princesse box. There’s something for everyone, as long as everyone loves painkiller-slow grooves. These songs will be removed if desired by the band or those who represent them. Let me know and I will gladly comply. The goal of this endeavor, as always, is to pique your interest in these artists so you’ll support the artists and buy their albums.
