San Francisco Is A Treat.

Our five and one half hour drive home from San Francisco today was largely uneventful. Last evening included some downtime in Dolores Park, and then we had the bright idea to drive to lower Haight and walk to Amoeba at the very top of Haight.

Phuket Thai Restaurant

Somewhere on Haight

Steve decided to skip the walk, got pizza with Andrew, and waited at his (Andrew’s) apartment. Amoeba was closed. Ilya appeared devastated. We stopped for Thai food–that is to say, I paid for Ilya’s Thai food and drank a diet soda. One Thai meal was enough for me this weekend. Afterwards we walked to Andrew’s and hung out there for a bit watching a Jacque Tati film called Mon Ocle. At some point, Steve and I decided to leave. We walked all the way back down Haight to where the car was parked, drove back to the apartment to drop off Ilya’s bag, and then drove back down Haight again, cut through town and sped off towards Oakland. That was the last few hours of my stay in the Bay Area.

Plans were considered to return shortly. We shall see if this becomes a reality. If anything, this weekend cemented my impression of San Francisco is a phenomenally cool city, wonderfully temperate (warm in the daytime, hoodie weather at night), filled with complete weirdos, and emitting a very low-key vibe. At times I felt like I was back in Burlington, only it never really got that cold. I’m going to be uploading and posting all my photographs from the last three days, so click through to see them, as they should be available for viewing by the time you read this.

Now, what you came here for.

RULES for uninitiated noobs: With 100MB of webspace, I give birth to a weekly Mix Tape to be deposited on your iPods or Zunes or Kingklangs or whatever the industry is currently pushing on you. Sometimes there will be themes that link all the songs together, other times I’ll just throw songs at a wall (not literally) and see what sticks. Tonight I am sharing with you the color green. Not the color blue (because I am not feeling blue!), not the color red (because I am not seeing red), and not because I’m really into the environment, or conservation, or any of that shit. And not because I am envious of anyone. I chose green because it is the color of green eyes. While six tracks do not contain “green,” they are represented here because they are nice songs. These songs will be removed if desired by the band or those who represent them. Let me know and I will gladly comply. The goal of this endeavor, as always, is to pique your interest in these artists so you’ll support the artists and buy their albums.
