Let’s Hurl A Brick-E-Mart: Visiting The Burbank, CA Kwik-E-Mart

That’s right, fellow nerds. Today Fawn and I took time out of our busy summer schedules to drive to the 7-Eleven in Burbank, which has recently undergone a transformation of sorts. Its exterior has been painted to recall that of the Kwik-E-Mart of The Simpsons fame. The interior is plastered with countless thematic posters and advertisements, as well as a fancy flat-panel LCD TV playing various trailers for the upcoming film. Radio and TV crews were there conducting interviews with customers as well as 7-Eleven employees and the manager. It was a real scene. In fact, they were out of donuts, and running out of Slurpees Squishees. My Slushee tasted just like a regular Coke, there was no icy texture to it. Oh well. The actual cans of Buzz Cola were all sold out, so they only way to drink it was to get Coke or some Coke-related product from the soda fountan with the large Buzz Cola emblem sitting atop it. You’ll see for yourself, here are a ton of pictures.

On the return trip from Burbank, we stopped in Solana Canyon to visit Fawn’s garden. While she watered her plants (tomatoes, peppers, chamomile, and beans), I ventured to the top of the hill. While this doesn’t sound all too interesting, it is actually quite an amazing feat. You see, at the top of the hill sit several bee colonies. And as you well know, I am petrified of bees. There I was conquering my fear, getting closer, closer to the bees. My very presence could be considered a threat to their home. I was not stung. I got within ten feet of the boxes, but I started to notice a little swarm developing, and quickly turned around and returned to the bottom of the hill. I was very proud of myself. Also, there was a lizard.
