SUNDAY MIX TAPE – VOLUME 69

Today was quite pleasant, thanks for asking! My early afternoon was spent with Fawn and Brian checking out a community garden where they want to buy a small plot to grow their own herbs and vegetables. We talked to a guy named Dana who maintains two plots filled with cacti, and he showed us around the grounds. Apparently at the top of the hill a beekeeper keeps several colonies of bees to harvest their honey. I was mortified, to say the least. I saw two frames from a short distance and refused to get any closer than that. I don’t know if I’ll ever return to the garden, it’s quite scary for me.

From there we drove to a Little Radio party in the warehouse district. It had a supremely cool vibe. Bands played live indoors, and on an adjacent lot they set up an above ground pool, a water slide, badminton courts, they were barbecuing vegan cuisine (hot dogs and hamburgers), and ridiculously attractive girls were sunbathing everywhere. It was like heaven, only with a worse DJ. The guy did take a break from the Wolfmother and White Stripes crap to play a Zombies tune, which was nice. Fawn fueled me with alcohol and kept me sufficiently buzzed. We hung out with some other people, took in half of one band’s set, and then departed to meet Fawn’s out-of-town friends at the apartment. They’re staying over tonight after seeing a black metal show at some club in West Hollywood. Ah, black metal.

You don’t even care, do you?

RULES for uninitiated noobs: With 100MB of webspace, I give birth to a weekly Mix Tape to be deposited on your iPods or Zunes or Kingklangs or whatever the industry is currently pushing on you. Sometimes there will be themes that link all the songs together, other times I’ll just throw songs at a wall (not literally) and see what sticks. No theme this week, but I did purposely include the No Neck Blues Band track entitled “Cum” specifically because this is Mix Tape #69. As always, these songs will be removed if desired by the band or those who represent them. Let me know and I will gladly comply. The goal of this endeavor, as always, is to pique your interest in these artists so you’ll support the artists and buy their albums.
