I’m sure you’re all being slaves to the television and watching Academy Awards-related programming, but I have chosen to compile for you a new Mix Tape. Tomorrow you will be blessed with Episode 5 of The Best Podcast You Have, Circulations Amethyst. The title is “Vibrophile”. I thought “Heroin Cheek” would’ve been funnier.
Normally I don’t pay any attention whatsoever to the names of these Mix Tapes. You could download them and conjure your own titles, for all I care. This week I received a nice comment from Tim in Cairo, Egypt, and after a couple correspondences have decided to – for the first time – honor a reader with a dedication (or what we in the VJ business – which I’m not a part of – call “a shout out”). According to Tim, the title of this Mix Tape translates to, “Perhaps later, maybe tomorrow, in the time of apricots, God willing.” Most excellent, no?
RULES for uninitiated noobs: With 100MB of webspace, I give birth to a weekly Mix Tape to be deposited on your iPods or Zunes or Kingklangs or whatever the industry is currently pushing on you. Sometimes there will be themes that link all the songs together, other times I’ll just throw songs at a wall (not literally) and see what sticks. This week I’ve taken a step back from genre-expanding weirdness and returned to my bread-and-butter: molasses-slow drones, dreamy noodlings and ephemeral blips of moon-bathed brilliance. These songs will be removed if desired by the band or those who represent them. Let me know and I will gladly comply. The goal of this endeavor, as always, is to pique your interest in these artists so you’ll support the artists and buy their albums.
