Today’s graduation party for my dear friend Jessie was quite fun. There were a few people in attendance that I knew from Muhlenberg, and others were faces that I recognized, but I’d never met before. As the oldest–and most jobless, a superlative I’ve just recently awarded myself–Allentown ex-patriot at the party, I made sure not to be a drag and tell everyone to get used to not having a clue about “the future.” The food was pretty good. I liked the cake [Insert requisite Courtney Love “Doll Parts” joke here].
With the rest of my day, I went down to the golf range and took care of some work that required my attention. Then I came home and listened to the stack of new-ish records that has been piling up. Girls Against Boys – Cruise Yourself, a Rifle Sport EP, Ill Communication…Then I fell into a Sunday evening malaise. I’ve had a long weekend.
This is Sunday Mix Tape number nineteen. If you don’t remember the rules, they’re very simple: I’ve got 100MB of webspace and every week I’ll make a new mix for yer iPod’s and your kingklangs or whatever you kids use to listen to music these days. Sometimes there will be themes that link all the songs together. This week’s theme is girls’ names, because it’s warm outside and girls are looking foxy with their arms and legs exposed. There were about thirty other songs I could have used (ie. Eno “Julie With…” and The Birthday Party “Kathy’s Kisses), but I didn’t have enough space. How fitting: There are tons of hot girls out there, but so few that’ll let you in their space!
These songs will be removed if desired by the band or those who represent them. Let me know and I will gladly comply. The goal of this endeavor, as always, is to pique your interest in these artists so you’ll buy their albums.
