How about those New York Metropolitans? Off to a 1-0 start this year, and they looked very energetic and ready for this season. I make no predictions other than they’ll finish with a winning record. Playoffs? I don’t know–being a Mets fan instills is one an ever-present sense of, “something has got to give,” which means just when things are looking up for the team, something invariably happens that ruins their season. Look for that to happen, oh, six months from now.
To be a Mets fan is to hope for the best and expect the worst. But, on opening day, we believe that anything can happen. So let us revel in this first victory of the season. Now, who wants a beer?
