Before we begin, I want to toot my own horn for a minute (not that I don’t do that enough in private!). Do you remember many months ago when I went to see Maserati and Dead Meadow in Brooklyn? I wrote about it right here, in this very space! Towards the middle of my review, I mentioned how Ian and I informed Matt Cherry (Maserati guitarist) that since Kindercore Records had folded, they would fit in perfectly with the Temporary Residence roster. I might have even dropped Jeremy deVine’s name as the person he needed (total fanboy inflection emphasized for extra emphasis! EMPHASIS!) to contact. Well, lo-and-behold, here we are a few months later and it was just announced that Maserati will be playing the Temporary Residence showcase during SXSW on March 17th at Whisky Bar. Coincidence? I think not!
I’m leaving for the Providence area (Rhode Island, not an omnipotent deity) today after my shift ends. I’ll be gone until Sunday evening, so if there are any updates to this here blog they’ll be made at awkward times. Ian, Justin and I have quite the grueling schedule planned for the weekend. On Friday I think we’re going to tour Newport Storm. Apparently the brewery tour entitles you to four free pints. Sounds thrilling! Saturday we’re going to tour the Sam Adams Brewery, I think. We definitely have tickets to attend the 3rd Annual Extreme Beer Fest (evening session). Sunday we’re going to a giant flea market somewhere to hunt for treasure. Sure it all sounds lame, but that’s just a combination of your jealousy and my self-deprecation.
Next week I have a lighter work schedule so I’m going to hunker down and finish the Louisville chapter, edit the Chicago chapter and proclaim myself officially “half done!” with the book. Two Monday’s from now I’m going to try and drive to Allentown for an important meeting and then I’ll start the next section of the book.
