I was busy at work this weekend sorting, researching, and pricing a variety of 45s from various collections we’ve purchased over the course of the past two years. Every once in a while I’d come to a title with no sales history available from any of the typical sources we use to help assess a fair market value for records. This was one of those records. In fact, when I searched via Google for “Sis Q Lint” and “Wally” there was an Amazon.com entry for the 7″ record and a page on Rate Your Music, but not much else. There was one blog entry, from a website called Aberrant Adherents detailing the 1984 EP by Sis Q Lint called “Pre-Need,” so I clicked onto it in the hopes of finding more information about the “Wally! Wally!” single. The post — which offers a MediaFire DL link for the “Pre-Need” EP — says this about it:
“Wonderfully entertaining absurdist tomfoolery from Los Angeles. Similar in spirit to the likes of Inflatable Boy Clams or 2.3 Children. The detached deadpan femme vocals are coupled with silly satirical lyrical insights about out of control poodles, the stresses of finding a proper mortician for oneself, and the cheesiness of low budget romantic pretendings. The music is quite entertaining as well. Synths, sound effects, sound clips, and percussions. All artistically mastered at Gold Star studios. Try listening to Dog Sweaters without cracking a big grin. There’s a good review from San Francisco’s Unsound zine to read here. They also put a single Wally! No luck. I scrolled through the comments looking for some help, and what did I see?
“Holly August 24, 2012 12:02PM” – “Love this! If anyone ever finds Wally! I too would love to hear.” The avatar for Holly looked familiar. Wait…could it — could it really be!? Was that MY Holly who posted the comment? I opened her Blogger profile and, sure enough, it was her. So I did what any gentleman would do in my situation, and immediately contacted her to tell her I had the Sis Q Lint single, and that I’d be posting it today. Because I really am that nice. To women specifically. Well, I really am that nice to women specifically because I want to see their breasts.
