Feeling slightly better this morning (my fever broke in the middle of the night, which is always a weird feeling — waking up in a pool of your own sweat but cooler and somewhat relieved) I donned my Sunday Best and drove out to Topanga State Park for my dear friends Fawn and Brian’s wedding.
Yes, I have friends.
Yes, some of them are mature enough to enter into marriage.
It was a unique celebration. One of their good friends (who donned a pair of Nike Air Force 1’s, which definitely outclassed my Reebok Pumps for coolest shoes at the party) became ordained just to marry them. The food was catered by a great local vegan/macrobiotic cafe. The playlist eschewed boring wedding music like Pachelbel’s Canon and “At Last” in favor of Nick Drake, The Kinks and Salt-n-Pepa. It wasn’t Lightning Bolt, Zoviet France and Neu! but…it was better than the norm. The beer list was good, the fruit punch was heavily spiked, and the crowd was as friendly as could be. I even got to see two of my old roommates who are now married with their first child.
Fuck, I’m getting old.
