Sunday Mix Tape – Number 407

It’s been almost four months since my last Sunday Mix Tape. Sorry about that. If you’ve kept up with the past few months of my life you already know why I was M.I.A. for a while. If you’re visiting this site for the first time feel free to nod and smile and play along. Are you the voyeuristic type? Do you enjoy slowing down to look at accidents on the highway? Scroll through my posts from February and March to relive my emotional car wreck. Just here for the music? That’s cool too.

It’s kind of hard to believe the year is 1/4 over already. I guess I spent the first three months of 2017 vacillating between depression and elation so while it has felt like a roller coaster ride…I didn’t realize how long the roller coaster ride has been going. Thankfully now that things are settling down a bit I can pause and take a breath for a couple weeks. My schedule is quiet for the first half of April. Later in the month I’ve got a more concerts on my calendar, then my birthday (so I’m sure some fun meals around town will be had) and finally I’m heading back east for work at the end of the month. Between now and when things start to pick up I’ll do my best not to ignore this exercise in futility I call a blog.

That feels like enough of an introduction for this week’s Mix Tape. Three innings of a baseball game have played out in the time it has taken me to pen two paragraphs. At least in terms of time investment, I’ve done my part for today.

RULES for uninitiated noobs: I give birth to a weekly Mix Tape to be deposited on your iPhone or iPod or iBrain or whatever the industry is currently pushing on you. Sometimes there will be themes that link all the songs together, other times I’ll just throw songs at a wall (not literally – iPhones are expensive!) and see what sticks. It should come as no surprise that the music I’ve been listening to lately mirrors the highs and lows I’ve experienced. I’ve tried to sequence the tunes here to mimic the unevenness one feels during times of strife and growth. Maybe you sleep like a baby one week, and the next not a wink. That’s this mix in a nutshell. The goal of this endeavor, as always, is to pique your interest in these artists so you’ll support the artists and buy their albums.
