Not much exists regarding this bizarre entry into the canon of outsider/experimental private press recordings. Rose Marie Lawson is credited with all of the voice, instrumentals (organ/piano) and sound effects present on this album. It’s been described as sounding like a cross between Lucia Pamela and Sun Ra. She’s not quite “The Space Lady,” but this is for sure an oddity that warrants a listen.
“Rose Marie Lawson was born in Buffalo, NY and, as many greats in the field of music, began her training at a very early age. Rose’s parents were genuinely interested in the extraordinary talents that were displayed continuously from the age of three, when Rose was noted as an exceptionally talented child. Through the helpful guidance of many fine teachers and schools of music, Rose continued to progress with her exceptional talents. Although she has received numerous honors for outstanding musical achievements, Rose humbly acknowledges her greatest abilities through music as being blessings through divine inspiration. Rose has continued to remain in the non-secular field of music, even against the advice of many noted music personalities, “But for a most sincere reason.” Rose has dedicated her life to the advancement of her “ministry through music” to bring meaningful realizations to great numbers of people. Rose’s sincere and truly exemplified desire is that of “helping people everywhere, through inspiration by music.”
“Feelings of inspiration which move one from within, are truly appreciated most when one realizes that the same divine inspiration that has blessed this innately talented artist, is that same divine power in everyone: and it awaits our awakening to the answers for perfection. I apologize for the recording quality here, as the record is somewhat hammered and after all these years I still don’t know how to use Audacity’s built-in effects to clean up the quality of the sound. If anyone knows how to de-hiss or de-crackle a recording in Audacity, by all means reach out and let me know what to do. Otherwise, enjoy this one!
