Sunday Mix Tape Number 368

mets3

This past one, it was an interesting weekend. After work on Friday I walked over to Dodger Stadium for the Mets game. Yeah, you read that right. It’s not a Dodgers game when the Mets are in town, it’s a Mets game. Unfortunately, the LOLmets showed up in town just in time for the game. The team committed four errors (including two – almost three – ugly ones by Wilmer Flores) which allowed the Dodgers to extend innings and “come from behind” (Curtis Granderson homered on the 2nd pitch of the game to give the Mets a 1-0 lead) to beat them. Super annoying, because Jon Niese pitched pretty well through the first few innings. After the game we were allowed to leave our seats and walk out onto the outfield grass for a fireworks display. Even though the game itself was atrocious and face-palmingly bad, the fireworks made up for it. Pretty cool!

Last night I went over to Human Resources to see Evan Caminiti (Barn Owl, et. al.), Gregg Kowalsky, Loren Chasse (Thuja, Kyrgyz, L/R) and Greg Bianchini (Thuja), which was one of the better shows I’ve seen in a while. It was certainly the show most geared towards me that’s come to town in a while. Kowalsky blew my mind with his quadrophonic speaker setup, which was almost as cool as his set way back in the day with like a dozen cassette players placed sporadically in and around the audience. Even though I was feeling a bit under the weather for the past few days, I was riding high after the show so I went out for some drinks…which was a bad idea. I’m paying for it dearly right now. And I’m about to go to bed at the totally un-rock ‘n roll hour of 11pm. Oh well. Here’s a mix tape.

I think I get to start moving this week so don’t anticipate many posts between now and when I’m settled in the new pad. If I have time or the mood strikes me, okay I’ll share something. Otherwise…tumbleweeds.

RULES for uninitiated noobs: I give birth to a weekly Mix Tape to be deposited on your iPods or Zunes or Kingklangs or whatever the industry is currently pushing on you. Sometimes there will be themes that link all the songs together, other times I’ll just throw songs at a wall (not literally) and see what sticks. Secret theme this week. See if you can figure it out. The goal of this endeavor, as always, is to pique your interest in these artists so you’ll support the artists and buy their albums.
