The Todd record continues to sell through various channels and I’ve been happily seeing orders via Discogs, eBay and retail stores. Amoeba in Hollywood, Fingerprintz in Long Beach, Freakbeat in Sherman Oaks, Atomic in Burbank, and Rockaway Records in Silver Lake all have copies if you’re in the LA area. In the New York area you can swing by Human Head in Brooklyn to get yourself a copy. Also, there will be some big news coming soon about a new avenue through which you can secure yourself a copy if you live outside of New York and LA. Hopefully this will make it easier for international fans too, because I know how annoying it is to pay $19 to ship a $13 record, but once you figure in the cost of the materials and the USPS’s ridiculous rates, that’s what it is. Sorry!
There have been a couple more digital and physical sales through the Swan Fungus Bandcamp page as well, which is nice to see. If you haven’t already, you should pick up a copy of the record. Support Todd, support this website, and grab a unique (and limited!) “real people” / “vanity” music artifact at the same time. Don’t have a turntable? The digital release is just $4. That’s, like, 50 cents per song. You can afford it, trust me.
Now how about a mix tape?
RULES for uninitiated noobs: I give birth to a weekly Mix Tape to be deposited on your iPods or Zunes or Kingklangs or whatever the industry is currently pushing on you. Sometimes there will be themes that link all the songs together, other times I’ll just throw songs at a wall (not literally) and see what sticks. Not much going on thematically this week, except for maybe the reflection of my current mood. Also, the new Woodsman album is killer, and I’m pretty sure UPSTREAM COLOR has surpassed the competition for best soundtrack/score of the year. Oh, and how amazing does Marissa Nadler continue to be? The song on this week’s mix is from a new compilation called YOU BE MY HEART, which benefits 826 (a non-profit organization dedicated to fostering writing skills in children). She’s so cool. My most unobtainable crush. The goal of this endeavor, as always, is to pique your interest in these artists so you’ll support the artists and buy their albums.
