My list of the top 100 albums of 2013 is ready to go. It should go live at some point tomorrow morning. Maybe…9am PST? And, of course, as I’m putting the finishing touches on the list I realized there were even more albums I left off the list that I originally intended to include. Hell, I probably like a bunch of these records more than my 10 “honorable mention” albums I blogged about the other day. These are the ones that, if I really cared, I’d go back and find a way to squeeze them into the list. Alas, I’m an idiot, and they will never be counted among my favorites of 2013 in the annals of Swan Fungus. Not on the list? Lost to obscurity. Hell, the artists might as well retire and stop making music, right? No Swan Fungus seal of approval? Better just give up.
I’m overtired. I spent nine hours working on this thing today. I don’t even think the descriptions of the top ten on my list make any sense. For that reason, I’m not even going to bother trying to describe these forgotten gems from the past twelve months. Just take my word for it, they’re great.
• Adderall Canyonly – We Are Everywhere At Once (Debacle)
• Bottomless Pit – Shade Perennial (Comedy Minus One) [Listen to “Full Of Life” [MP3]]
• Caspian – Hymn For The Greatest Generation (Triple Crown)
• Brokeback – Brokeback & The Black Rock (Thrill Jockey)
• Mark Lanegan – Imitations (Vagrant)
• Boris – Praparat (Daymare)
• Dead Meadow – Warble Womb (Xemu)
Sorry guys and gals. I forgot. Don’t hate me.
