Whew! What a weekend. Wait, was it what a weekend? I don’t even remember what I did Friday night! I know I worked late…but after that…Oh, right, I stayed in. That wasn’t at all exciting, was it? And last night I went across town to cash in on a dinner bet and hang out in Westwood. That was fun. Too bad I had to work all weekend. I feel kinda sapped of energy at the moment. Which is a shame, because it’s going to be a busy week. I’ve got two nights of Boris concerts at the end of the week (and fucking DEAFHEAVEN is opening!) and a goodbye party for a co-worker on Wednesday. Hopefully other opportunities will present themselves, as well.
Until tomorrow. I’ve gotta post this mix tape and then watch Game of Thrones. These last three are going to be memorable ‘sodes. Sorry for the lack of diversity in the tunes. I didn’t have a lot of CDs accessible at the time I was compiling it. Last night my dining companion was playing a song she said she liked, and she wondered if I could tell her who wrote the original version of the song. Lucky for me it happened to be a Vashti Bunyan song, so I got to go on and on about Vashti Bunyan, and play her the original version of “Train Song” for the first time. I felt equal parts proud of my music knowledge and NERD ALERT! NERD ALERT! at the same time.
My mind is constantly at odds with itself.
RULES for uninitiated noobs: I give birth to a weekly Mix Tape to be deposited on your iPods or Zunes or Kingklangs or whatever the industry is currently pushing on you. Sometimes there will be themes that link all the songs together, other times I’ll just throw songs at a wall (not literally) and see what sticks. There isn’t really a theme this week. The goal of this endeavor, as always, is to pique your interest in these artists so you’ll support the artists and buy their albums.
