Smart Music For Smart People

I was cleaning up my CD collection the other day in the hopes of selling off some of the ancillary shit I’ve acquired through the years. And I came across one of the best reader gifts I’ve ever received, which I hadn’t listened to in two years. The Warrior of Light known as Old Man Neill sent me this CD — complete with bitchin’ artwork — along with one of the most supportive, friendly notes one could possibly receive. The CD was a kind gesture — totally unnecessary, of course — that meant more than I could say. The music contained herein probably isn’t for everyone, but the idea is to present the whole thing as it was made for me without picking and choosing what I thought were the best tunes while leaving the rest aside. Although I’m sure it wasn’t his intention, Old Man Neill’s creation stands on its own as a unique work of art, and it deserves to be presented as such.

In lieu of a Sunday Mix Tape this week, here’s “Smart Music For Smart People,” an old-timey compilation by Old Man Neill.
