Tony Maudlin – 4-Song EP

There’s no information anywhere about this release on the Internet. Hell, I don’t even know if it should be credited to Tony Maudlin, Bob Falloon, Mews Music, or R.A.M.. I know literally nothing about it. I just know that the A-side is solid loner/downer fare that some of you will enjoy (if your tastes, like mine, gravitate towards that sub-genre). That said, this is pretty much all I know about the EP. “Downtown L.A.” — combined with the fact that this record was unearthed here in Los Angeles — hints that the musician(s) responsible for its creation probably lived here at some point in time. Also the fact that one of the songs is titled “Venice In Italy” (as opposed to Venice Beach) further hints that perhaps it is a local or regional release. I guess what I’m getting at is, here’s another unknown, undocumented record that I would love to hear more about. If anyone has any information regarding its production, be it about the artist or label, let me know.

That said, if you search for “Moonshine Kelly” and “Venice In Italy” on Google the results take you to an album recorded by someone named Jason Falloon. Could this be a relative of Bob Falloon? Jason’s location (according to his MySpace…yikes) is listed as Germany. I guess what I’m saying is, he’s got the same last name as the guy responsible for two of these four songs, so maybe they’re related somehow. Who the hell knows?

By the way, if it’s a fake name, how great is “Tony Maudlin” as an alias for a guy who writes downer songs? I wish I’d thought of that first.
