Ah, life is good. Especially when the New York Giants win convincingly against one of the better teams in the NFL. The dread that fills me on certain Sundays when I worry the team I support might underperform came again today. By halftime I felt much better, though. Still…when is Kevin Gilbride (the team’s offensive coordinator) going to get over his ridiculous obsession with draw plays on third downs? It’s like he looks up and sees he needs to gain two or three yards, so instead of powering the ball ahead he decides to choose the slowest-developing plays in his playbook. It’s easily the most frustrating part of any Giants game, whether the team is winning or losing. The only thing worse might be seeing Eli Manning force a ball into coverage when he could scramble for positive yardage.
Then again, there’s probably a reason I’m a blogger and those guys are an NFL coach and a future Hall Of Fame quarterback, respectively.
