Sunroof! – Found Star Sound

Sunroof! is Matthew Bower. You probably already know him as a member of Skullflower, the influential British industrial group, alongside Stefan Jaworzyn, Gary Mundy and Stuart Dennison (also with collaborations from members of Coil, Whitehouse, and other underground figures). Well, this isn’t Skullflower. It’s Sunroof!. It was pretty much just Bower’s project, although he’d occasionally receive support from friends. It was more melodic and keyboard-intensive than Skullflower, So if you thought the early stuff was too harsh for your virgin ears, this might be more up your alley.

Found Star Sound was released by VHF records in 2000. It was recorded mostly in Cumbria, at Bower’s home. The landscape was rainy and rural. The pastoral, home-recorded feel and hints of rural psychedelia recall Flying Saucer Attack’s early work. So if you like that, you’re sure to like this! AllMusic called it “acid-damaged folk”. it contains a song called “Radioactivity” (not the Kraftwerk tune) and one called “Glycerine” (not the Bush tune).

So there you have it. Check it out. Enjoy.
