I’m back in New Jersey. There was business to attend to, so I’ll be here for the next week. There will be daily updates recounting my adventures, which will quite likely be tame compared to past vacations. I won’t be blacking out across town, I’ll be traveling a bit, visiting with friends and family, and things should be relatively calm. I hope.
My flight last night sure was boring! I popped a sleeping pill about thirty minutes before takeoff, so I was unconscious within twenty minutes of boarding the plane. I was stirred once or twice by turbulence, but the pilot had such a calm demeanor it was like, “Whatever, bro. It can’t kill us.” He would come over the intercom and almost whisper to us, like we were all sleeping children back there, and say something like, “If you don’t have your seatbelts on, please do so now.” And then he’d sing us a lullaby and before I knew it I was asleep again. Captain Nanny, I think I’ll call that guy. He flew a plane and sung a lullaby.
I arrived, as most air travelers do, in one piece. My mother drove me to her place, and I slept on the couch for another three hours. It was a good sleep. It was still a kind of a druggy sleep, but it was the good kind. Then I got up and ran five miles (it’s cool guys, it’s only 100 degrees here and humid). Then I ate a bagel, a fresh apricot hamantaschen, and went to visit my dad at his office a mile down the road. He looks alright. He’s put on a few pounds but he’s not morbidly obese yet.
Now we’re leaving for dinner at Daniel in the city. You know, Daniel Boloud’s place? Three Michelin stars? One of the top 25 restaurants in the world?
Yeah, I’ll review it tomorrow. Gotta go!
