Phew. What a weekend. Had a solid BBQ dinner followed by a heavy drinking session at Surly Goat on Friday, then took it easy on Saturday night and caught up on season two of ‘Oz,’ which is one of the most brutal TV series I’ve ever seen. This coming week will be super-busy as well. Tonight I got to watch a friend read some of her poetry at a bookstore/theater in town, Wednesday I’ve got a lunch date with someone who’s editing an article for me, Friday I get to see Codeine (!!!) and a party Saturday. Also, thank God I get paid this week.
Fuck, I listened to the Marissa Nadler record ‘Ballads Of Living And Dying’ at work today and it made me think about how I’ve totally come around on her since the first time I saw her open for Jackie-O Motherfucker at Tonic in NYC back in the day. She’s unbelievable. I think I’m in love.
RULES for uninitiated noobs: I give birth to a weekly Mix Tape to be deposited on your iPods or Zunes or Kingklangs or whatever the industry is currently pushing on you. Sometimes there will be themes that link all the songs together, other times I’ll just throw songs at a wall (not literally) and see what sticks. No real theme this week. I tried to compile a good mix of different stuff with some songwriters mixed with weird noise and ambient and rock.
