And in the end, I went with option “D”: None of the above.
Instead of gloating, I raced out of my house as the game clock ticked down to :00, and drove a few friends to a local watering hole. There, four or five of us celebrated the Giants’ victory. I didn’t want to be at home with 40 or 50 rabid Patriots fans. It would have been depressing. I would have felt bad laughing at their misfortune/depression. Maybe i’m too good a friend. Maybe I should have rubbed their noses in it. Oh well.
The game itself was stressful. There were so many people yelling and screaming at every good play for New England that my little shouts and cheers when the Giants made a good play almost went unnoticed. And with the score close throughout the contest, no one really felt comfortable from kickoff right through to the final moments and that hail mary pass. It was nice that my friend Natalie would quietly ask, “Are you okay?” when it looked as if I hadn’t taken a breath in three or four minutes. Other than that, there weren’t really any positive vibes sent my way from anyone in the house.
Of course, my Super Sliders were a hit, so at least I had that going for me. I barely got to save one for myself, as whenever a batch of six burgers hit the plate they were gone in seconds. The one I had was pretty good! I used some ground chuck, cooked the patties on a bed of onions, steamed the buns with the onions and some puree/pulp from the onions, and topped each with a small square of American cheese, a piece of jowl bacon and a pickle. I felt proud knowing that everyone was raving about my little culinary creations.
And now, you’re probably bored of this preamble, so here’s your mix tape.
RULES for uninitiated noobs: I give birth to a weekly Mix Tape to be deposited on your iPods or Zunes or Kingklangs or whatever the industry is currently pushing on you. Sometimes there will be themes that link all the songs together, other times I’ll just throw songs at a wall (not literally) and see what sticks. No theme this week. The goal of this endeavor, as always, is to pique your interest in these artists so you’ll support the artists and buy their albums.
