I trust you’re all recovering/resting/relaxing today. Whether you welcomed 2012 with a quiet night at home alongside family and friends, or joined some raucous, drunken celebration at a house/club/bar, I’m sure it was a great time. If you must know about my night, I thoroughly enjoyed myself. Considering New Years last year was probably the worst of my life, this one could be considered a polar opposite. I went to a party at a friends’ house nearby, rang in the new year with a great group of people, made some new friends, and headed over to our usual after hours party spot until the wee hours of the morning. There was drunken and druggy debauchery. There were scandalous sightings. And best of all, no fights!
A friend’s girlfriend and I spent some time at the after hours place chatting about running. She confided that she’d signed up for the Phoenix marathon this month but was petrified about competing. She asked if I’d run with her, and for a few drunken minutes I considered the possibility. I think she was disappointed when I finally said no, but it’s likely she was as drunk as I am and will never remember the conversation.
RULES for uninitiated noobs: I give birth to a weekly Mix Tape to be deposited on your iPods or Zunes or Kingklangs or whatever the industry is currently pushing on you. Sometimes there will be themes that link all the songs together, other times I’ll just throw songs at a wall (not literally) and see what sticks. Unless I’ve fucked this up, the theme this week is that each of these 15 songs represents a different year between 1997 and 2011. What better way to celebrate the birth of a new year. THE ONE WHERE THE WORLD IS SUPPOSED TO END! The goal of this endeavor, as always, is to pique your interest in these artists so you’ll support the artists and buy their albums.
