In Which I Write About Softball, Then Abandon Blogging For Online Poker

Last night’s softball game was ridiculous. Los Nuevos Expos had our entire roster in attendence; nobody was injured or on vacation. In a very closely-contested match against a worthy opponent, we rallied late and held on for a clutch victory. In our last turn at-bat, we were down three runs. I came up with no one out and a runner on first, and reached safely on an infield single. After a walk, the next batter Andrew hit an inside-the-park grand slam to put us up by one run. Later in the inning (with two outs), James hit a mammoth home run over the left-centerfield wall. All told, we scored 9 runs that inning. Nate worked his way out of trouble, getting their best hitter to ground out to third base to end the game, preserving a 5-run lead. I was 3-3 with a double, two singles and a walk. I scored 2 runs. So far this season my on-base percentage is an ungodly .850, the highest on our team. And to think, last season I was most known for tripping over second base and severely bruising my toe. It’s like I’m almost actually athletic now! Oh, if only my old baseball coaches could see what a non-klutz I turned out to be…

Oh, and in case you have not yet heard, they announced the details for the premier of the final season of LOST. The show will no longer be on Wednesday nights, they’ve switched to Tuesdays. This is kind of amazing, for two reasons: Tuesday is the last day of my work week, and Tuesday also happens to be the day (well, night actually) my friends and I have devoted to re-watching the entire series. If we keep on our current schedule, we will finish the Season 5 finale within a few days of the Season 6 premiere. The date of the premiere, of course, will be on February 2nd. We’re less than 75 days away. Amazing.

So, it’s Friday. I don’t have a top ten list prepared. I’m kind of tired, and I promised myself a night alone playing online poker by candlelight. I think I’m going to call it a night and turn the lights off, start spinning some records, and pleasuring myself with the sweet, sweet euphoria of some $3.30 + $0.30 Full Title poker tournaments. Also maybe I’ll take some some mood stabilizers. I’ll let you know tomorrow whether I win anything.
