In Which I Bring Christmas Cheer To One Sad, Pathetic Boy (Zing!)

Congratulations Z, you won the contest and drew a hilarious caricature of me. You very much deserve to be the contest winner. See, you DO have something to live for! Not that it matters, but the final vote was 8 for Dan, 2 for Chad, and the other four comments were either corrections or general comments about how awesome the drawings were. As for your autographed poster, well, I’ll ship it out to you whenever I get a chance. You’re still living in your parents house, right? (Zing!)

I hope everybody had an enjoyable Christmas Day, or a happy 5th day of Chanukah if you’re one of the chosen people. I gorged myself on amazing food in the company of Phoebe’s family and some of her friends. We played a rousing game of Apples To Apples and later unwrapped (and played) Scattergories. Many arguments and debates over technicalities led to much laughter. I didn’t win any of the games, but I sure felt like a winner because I was in the company of a very nice and hospitable family. Although I guess that’s better than spending the “the most wonderful time of the year” sitting alone at home beating off, right Z? (Zing!)

We stayed in the little cottage by the sea until just past eight o’clock, then drove home to the relative safety (unless you think a friend getting jumped on your street is unsafe) of East Los Angeles. From one feast to another, I managed to somehow fit two servings of Shaun’s nintey-five course meal into my gut. Then we huddled around the warm, glowing, warming glow of the giant flat-screen TV and watched Slumdog Millionaire, which was surprisingly good. I had no idea what the film was about — just that it has been receiving a lot of press lately — and was very satisfied by it. To be honest, the first time I heard the title of the film I thought I heard, “Scumdog Millionaire”, and wondered if maybe it was a film about Gwar vocalist Oderus Urungus and his rich, lavish lifestyle on the planet Scumdogia. I probably would have been really disappointed had I actually paid to see the film in a theater and found out it wasn’t a Gwar documentary.

…And that’s it for today. Again, congratulations to Z for his artistic masterpiece. Now if only he could apply those amazing talents in the real world, he might actually accomplish something in his lifetime (Zing!).

Sorry man, I love you.
