SUNDAY MIX TAPE – NUMBER 98

Today (the day after the day after the day after the Winter Solstice, as pictured above) is my 1,001st post since starting this blog. In celebration of reaching the 1K mark, I have put together an utterly massive Mix Tape for you. Bandwidth, be damned!

I speak without hyperbole when I say that life cannot get much better than it is right now. After a full day of work yesterday, a co-worker and I ducked into Red Lion for a bite to eat. We were first joined by her boyfriend, then later by Phoebe, Rebecca, Sari (plus a guest), Ilya, Alex and Hari. It was a rousing good time. I think it was Sari who said I acted like a king presiding over his court. We eventually found ourselves back at Phoebe’s with a bottle of Maker’s Mark and acoustic guitars, singing and growing steadily more intoxicated. It was a great way to cap off what has been a truly glorious week in every conceivable way.

I am working tomorrow (Monday) from 10-6, and then I am off until Thursday. The sporadic blog entries will continue until I have a set work schedule. I think I’m going to be working four days a week (Saturday, Sunday, Monday Tuesday), so once everything kicks in I’ll be able to put the requisite amount of time into blogging each day.

RULES for uninitiated noobs: With 100MB of webspace, I give birth to a weekly Mix Tape to be deposited on your iPods or Zunes or Kingklangs or whatever the industry is currently pushing on you. Sometimes there will be themes that link all the songs together, other times I’ll just throw songs at a wall (not literally) and see what sticks. Like I said earlier, this is a truly gargantuan mix, compiling a wide array of different tracks across several different genres. Also, there are more than a handful of Christmas tunes for those of you who still need help getting into the holiday spirit. I tried to choose traditional and non-traditional Christmas music, so you’ll find tracks from both Charlie Brown Christmas Soundtrack as well as the hard-to-find Heavy Christmas album that features several prominent Krautrock groups. As always, these songs will be removed if desired by the band or those who represent them. Let me know and I will gladly comply. The goal of this endeavor, as always, is to pique your interest in these artists so you’ll support the artists and buy their albums.
