SUNDAY MIX TAPE – NUMBER 87

I’m trying something new this week. Most of the readers who choose to e-mail me do so to complain about how I do not offer the Sunday Mix Tape as a cohesive downloadable file. Well, today is your lucky day, valued reader — it’s taken me 87 weeks, but your prayers have been answered. As of today, I’m going to start making compressed archives of the compilations available for you. Maybe now you can tell your friends about this website, and we can start to grow together. As friends. And lovers.

I hope your weekends were fun and safe. I’m sorry this mix is uninspired, I’ve been running around all week and unable to devote as much thought to it as I would have liked. Next week: best Sunday Mix of 2007. You heard it here first. Then again, where else would you hear it?

RULES for uninitiated noobs: With 100MB of webspace, I give birth to a weekly Mix Tape to be deposited on your iPods or Zunes or Kingklangs or whatever the industry is currently pushing on you. Sometimes there will be themes that link all the songs together, other times I’ll just throw songs at a wall (not literally) and see what sticks. This week is a haphazard attempt to explore the darkness of inner space. Sure, it’d be much easier to describe by posting glacier-slow ocean swirls that just kind of wash over you and make you mopey, but no one would read this page if all I shared were abnormally long, sparse instrumental drones. That shit’s barely even music! I guess I chose each track for the way it made me feel upon hearing the first several bars. These songs will be removed if desired by the band or those who represent them. Let me know and I will gladly comply. The goal of this endeavor, as always, is to pique your interest in these artists so you’ll support the artists and buy their albums. And really, there is no reason not to. Most of these can be purchased for anywhere between fifty cents and two dollars. Unless of course, you’re afraid somebody might find it in your collection.
