SUNDAY MIX TAPE – VOLUME 83

Greetings from the land of the ill. I made the brutal mistake of rushing to kill the intense burning sensation which accompanies eating hot peppers with a cold glass of milk before remembering that my body cannot digest lactose. I feel like I’m on the brink of an terrible vomit-filled evening. Too bad, I was having a really good day. I hung out in Pasadena for a while, and then almost fell asleep in my notebook trying to write a short story. Have you ever tried to write something while half-conscious? I’ll tell you right now, I started on page one with a conversation between a couple who had found themselves lost while driving. The last sentence I recorded, while my eyes were practically closed, was ” Holy spirits in overcoats and gallant ladies on horseback struggle to read minds contained in heads turned backwards, and I am the only man in this entire army who recognizes there is a sneak attack approaching.” I don’t know, your guess is as good as mine.

RULES for uninitiated noobs: With 100MB of webspace, I give birth to a weekly Mix Tape to be deposited on your iPods or Zunes or Kingklangs or whatever the industry is currently pushing on you. Sometimes there will be themes that link all the songs together, other times I’ll just throw songs at a wall (not literally) and see what sticks. This is tape number #83, and it is dedicated to the year of my birth, 1983. I’ve tried to compile–to the best of my ability–some of the best songs released during that year. Unfortunately, I could not find some of my favorites that I do not have digitized versions of (Rifle Sport’s Voice Of Reason, Man Sized Action’s Claustrophobia, The Replacements’ Hootenanny, and Lo Ta-Yu’s Master Of The Future). I did the best given what resources were available to me. These songs will be removed if desired by the band or those who represent them. Let me know and I will gladly comply. The goal of this endeavor, as always, is to pique your interest in these artists so you’ll support the artists and buy their albums.
