Today was the big chili cook-off at the Beverly Hills Farmer’s Market. You’re going to wait until tomorrow (isn’t that the refrain of Silverchair’s first single?) to hear all about it. If I had two describe it in two words, I will say, “Tears. Hair.” I’m sure you will be waiting on the edge of your seat for my description of the event. Yes, there will be pictures. No, they are not good.
RULES for uninitiated noobs: With 100MB of webspace, I give birth to a weekly Mix Tape to be deposited on your iPods or Zunes or Kingklangs or whatever the industry is currently pushing on you. Sometimes there will be themes that link all the songs together, other times I’ll just throw songs at a wall (not literally) and see what sticks. Here are some of the creepiest songs I could find in my collection to share with you. Some of them are off-putting in an atmospheric sense. For example, tracks by Joshua, Jasper TX, and The Loop Orchestra are instrumental pieces possessing an air of uneasiness. Others, like Conway Twitty and Vicki Lawrence, are simply disturbing from a lyrical standpoint. I was really hoping to find the Red Peters track “Ballad Of A Dog Named Stains,” because that is hands down the weirdest song I’ve ever heard, but I simply ran out of time. I’m sorry. I’ll find it soon. These songs will be removed if desired by the band or those who represent them. Let me know and I will gladly comply. The goal of this endeavor, as always, is to pique your interest in these artists so you’ll support the artists and buy their albums.
