Tonight my father, sister and I went out for a nice Italian dinner. At the table, trying to ladle balsamic vinegar onto a piece of chicken, my father–fed up with how long the ladeling process was taking–said to me, “Evan, don’t be so dainty.” My sister and I erupted in a fit of laughter that pretty much forced the attention of every other table in the restaurant onto us. I don’t know…It was just the tone of his voice. You had to be there. This morning I tried getting a last-minute Father’s Day card, and in my rush to have it signed and sealed before I got to his house, I instinctively started to scrawl “Happy Father’s Day” right below where the card already said “Happy Father’s Day.” Not wanting to make a mess and cross out what I’d already written, I simply finished by writing “Happy Day!” I’m an ass.
This is Sunday Mix Tape number 20. If you don’t remember the rules, they’re very simple: I’ve got 100MB of webspace and every week I’ll make a new mix for yer iPod’s and your kingklangs or whatever you kids use to listen to music these days. Sometimes there will be themes that link all the songs together. This week’s theme is shifting dynamics. I tried to go loud/soft/loud from one song to the next. I actually think this is one of the best mixes yet. I had to dig through three hard drives and about 450 CD’s to find bands I haven’t featured yet (‘cept for The Godz, and Silkworm, they rule) and it’s really faaaahking good! These songs will be removed if desired by the band or those who represent them. Let me know and I will gladly comply. The goal of this endeavor, as always, is to pique your interest in these artists so you’ll buy their albums.
