Today I hung out with my dear friends Sam and Lindsey. We met up in the city and had a nice meal. They wanted to go shopping for comics so we went to Forbidden Planet for a few minutes while they geeked out and I looked at all the toys I couldn’t imagine anyone ever wanting to buy. Lindsey tried to get me to buy an issue of a comic called Johnny the Homicidal Maniac but I would not budge. She bought an issue thinking it was in color, and then gave it to me after she realized not only was it not in color, she already owned it. I promised it return it to her anyway once I’ve finished it.
Afterwards we went down to Kim’s, where a 25% off sale netted me four excellent records (Jason Molina – Pyramid Electric Co., Wire – Pink Flag, Unwound – Leaves Turn Inside You, and Low – Things We Lost in the Fire) for about $40. A good deal. We hung around a while later at another comic shop where Lindsey got even more comics (she’s a nerd!).
Went to the Starbucks on the corner of Astor Pl. and 3rd Avenue. Adam Sandler showed up with this guy. Naturally, I walked over to Sandler and held my finger to his forehead like a gun and said, “Say somethin’ funny!” to which he looked at me oddly and walked away. Okay fine, so I didn’t talk to him. What really happened was, they got some coffee and his friend walked into the bathroom with another guy, and then all they shook hands and disappeared into the back of a black Lincoln with tinted windows. Drug deal? Maybe!
Now I’m home. Oh yeah! Nat got me, Ilya and Z into Tuesday night’s HUGE “The Heart Is Deceitful Above All Things” after-party. That’s right kiddies, I’m gonna be hobnobbing with A-listers. Will there be another incident like the time I elbowed Nick Carter at Seattle/Tacoma airport? Or the time I spilled red wine all over Kenny Smith and Willis Reed at the NBA Draft VIP wine and cheese party? Stay tuned.
Here’s a new Sunday Mix for y’all. If you don’t remember the rules, they’re very simple. I’ve got 100MB of webspace and every week I’ll make a new mix tape for yer iPod’s and your kingklangs or whatever you kids use to listen to music these days. Sometimes there will be themes that link all the songs together. A wicked web rumor says that 90 Day Men split-up. This is very sad news to me. I’m going to use this mix tape to feature some of their brilliant music. If for some reason you haven’t heard about them give ’em a listen and fall in love. Other than that, if there’s a theme here I’ve subconsciously included, feel free to inform me about what it is. Otherwise, enjoy! These songs will be removed if desired by the band or those who represent them. Let me know and I will gladly comply. The goal of this endeavor, as always, is to pique your interest in these artists so you’ll buy their albums.
**MP3’S WERE REMOVED ON 3/05/06. **
