It looks like next Thursday I’ll be in Allentown for my meeting with Professor Marsh. He seemed excited to hear from me (as evident by exclamation point usage, a fairly good barometer for one’s level of encore). This prospect of finally being able to hash out some ideas with someone I respect and could wean information from fills me with nervous anticipation. I have to make sure I have all my shit together so that I don’t walk in and give the impression that I’m unprepared for this venture.
By the way, my friend Sam conducted an awesome interview with Zambia Greene and Kevin McAdams about their tenure in two incredible (and sadly short-lived) bands called Teenbeaters and Killaholics. It’s awesome reading material, really dark and inspiring. I met Kevin a few years ago when he started playing with Elefant and have gone through periods of semi-regular contact ever since. I’ve never had the opportunity to meet Zambia but from what I hear from those who know him, he’s one of the most gifted, talented artists they’ve ever known.
