i’ve become enamored of a new guitar tuning. i guess the most common descriptor would be that it’s a baritone tuning (low to high C-F-A#-D#-G#-C)? i first started using it last year with the sole purpose of covering the leonard cohen song “avalanche,” but eventually started fooling around with different chords, and it affords me opportunities to make some rich sounding music. for some reason, playing an open e-chord sounds more like a piano than a guitar. then again, i see or hear weird things in my head when i’m playing music. this new tuning also happens to be (i think) the same tuning jason molina used when recording “ghost tropic,” because as i was preparing to record something this afternoon i popped in my CD and realized i could play along quite nicely with mr. molina.

this week i’m preparing my final project as a communications honors student, it’s a bound, ‘published’ version of my academic journal from the independent study that i’ve been partaking in this semester. i may post excerpts from it, as it definitely pertains to the whole “life after graduation” part of my life, which is what this stupid blog was originally intended for.

aside from my book idea, which i am still hesitant to mention because i don’t want people to steal the idea, i’ve got some other ideas i want to explore before i realize i’m not going anywhere and start applying for jobs. they include the usual: a screenplay, a band, a recording.
